ShamrockFest & Rock n Roll Marathon

As spring approaches, we look forward to warmer days, cherry blossoms and naturally, ShamrockFest and the Rock ‘n Roll Marathon. Both events are returning to the RFK Stadium Campus in a major way in 2019!

ShamrockFest, America’s largest St. Patrick’s Day festival with a variety of current and nostalgic rock bands, will take place March 23 from 12:00 p.m. to 8 p.m., in Lot 8. The rain or shine event features live music performances, food, beer and cocktails, and plenty of activities to get you in the St. Paddy’s Day spirit! With five stages of more than 30 bands and DJs, the 2019 lineup includes: The Mighty Mighty Bosstones, Andrew W.K., The Mahones, Gaelic Mishap, DJ Kool, The Fighting Jamesons, and more. Click here for the full lineup.

Other activities include:

  • Irish dancers
  • Irish Village vendors
  • On-stage contests
  • Bag pipers
  • Party games

Tickets for the rain or shine ShamrockFest currently start at $24.99. Free entry is available for Children 11 and under, but they must be accompanied by a ticket holder who is at least 18 years old. Grab your green clothing, make your way to the Festival Grounds at RFK, and get ready to shake your shamrocks!

United Airlines Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon

Although the actual marathon and half-marathon will begin in other locations within the District, the 5K race and finish line for all races are still on the RFK Campus. Of course, the finish line is much more than a symbol of the race’s completion, it’s a festival!

On Saturday, March 9, celebrate your finish at the 2019 United Airlines Rock 'n' Roll Washington, DC Marathon & Half Marathon. Rock out with Carbon Leaf and get ready for a blend of high energy rock, folk, Celtic, and bluegrass music at the Finish Line Festival.

The DC race course allows participants to see some of the most beautiful and historic landmarks of our nation’s capital such as the Washington Monument, Lincoln Memorial, White House, and the U.S. Capitol to name a few. One of last year’s participants said:

“A year ago, I signed up for this race even before I ran my first half-marathon, and on Saturday, I come to RnR DC 2018 for my third half. My heart brims with so much gratitude for all the love I’ve received from the running community, all the days I didn’t give up when it was the easiest choice, and above all, for shaping the ‘me’ in myself time and again. “

Whether running, jogging or walking at your own pace along the Potomac River, you don’t want to miss the #RnRDC experience!
