If strolling through a rainbow of fresh-picked produce sounds like a refreshing start to your Saturday or Sunday mornings, then you’ll want to check out the greenest scene around: the DC Open-Air Farmers Market at RFK Campus.
This farmers market has been providing our neighborhood with fresh fruits and vegetables for decades, ever since its opening under Mayor Marion Barry. Gathering around heaps of produce, you’ll find neighbors chatting and farmers educating consumers on the best way to cook their crops.
The market even features a “double dollars” program, enabling consumers to use food stamps to buy quality local produce. Each food stamp dollar spent earns a dollar of free food money, essentially doubling the value of the food stamps.
The market is located on the RFK Stadium Festival Grounds - Lot 6. Please check the calendar on eventsdc.com as the market occasionally gets relocated on the campus grounds. It is open from 7:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m., Saturdays and Sundays, through the month of April.
